Small Works on Paper 2012

Now in its 25th year, the annual Small Works on Paper exhibition showcases artwork no larger than 24 x 24 inches by Arkansas artists who are members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, an online art gallery coordinated by the Arkansas Arts Council.

You've reached the William F. Laman Public Library System, the official library system of North Little Rock. 

 

A new year is upon us, and the library already has many events and programs scheduled for all ages.  An entire year of art exhibits has been arranged.  Some have even been planned into 2013 and 2014.  Of course, the propular toy trains will be back in December.

 

A variety of musicians with a variety of styles, have been contacted and contracted to play at our popular Live at Laman program on the second thursday of each month.

 

Plans are also underway for our annual Summer Reading Program and the LAMANPALOOZA festival.

  • 2012 Laman Library Writers Fellowship

    Investigative journalist and award-winning author Mara Leveritt was named 2012 Writers Fellow. Leveritt was chosen by an independent group of literary professionals. She will use this fellowship to assist her as she completes her third book, Justice Knot, a companion to "Devil’s Knot," Leveritt’s 2002 book that follows the highly controversial case of the West Memphis Three. "Justice Knot" carries the story of the case from 1996 to the stunning events of 2011.

  • Small Works on Paper Exhibit Reception

    The Arkansas Arts Council's annual "Small Works on Paper" exhibition showcases artwork no larger than 24 x 24 inches by Arkansas artists who are members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, an online art gallery coordinated by the Arts Council. The selected work is chosen by an out-of-state juror, who also selects pieces for purchase awards. Purchase award winners receive the cash amount equivalent to the value of their selected works. Funded by entry fees, the purchase award pieces become part of the exhibition’s permanent collection. Laman Library will kick of the 2012 traveling exhibition for this show.
