The Gateway Project provides public library service to Central Arkansas residents without charging a non-resident fee to patrons outside Laman Library's service area (Pulaski County).
The program applies to library patrons in the following counties: Arkansas, Cleveland, Conway, Dallas, Faulkner, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Jackson, Jefferson, Lonoke, Perry, Pike, Prairie, Pope, Pulaski, Saline, Van Buren and White.
Library patrons who are Gateway cardholders have borrowing privileges at any of the participating libraries and, therefore, have access to a 1.5 million-volume collection at no cost.
Cardholders must have a current library card from their home library and be at least 14 years of age. (Age requirements may differ at the participating libraries.)
Cardholders must apply for the Gateway card at their home library in the county in which they reside. Cards must be renewed each year at their home library.
Library patrons must follow the procedures of the system from which materials are borrowed.
A $3.00 per item fee will be charged to a cardholder returning materials to a library other than the library from which the materials were checked out.
A $10.00 fee will be charged for the replacement of a Gateway card. A patron's home library will issue replacement cards.
Materials should be returned on or before the due date. Fines or fees must be paid in order to reinstate borrowing privileges.
