Laman Library Announces Recurring Outdoor Music Event This Summer

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 11, 2010) -- The William F. Laman Public Library System announced this week a new recurring program called Thursdays on the Plaza, an evening of musical fun in the outdoor Laman Library plaza.

The spectacular jazz group Serious Young Musicians of Ridgeroad Middle Charter School will perform at the Laman Plaza Thursday, May 13, at 7 p.m., setting the stage for a summer of musical fun.

Thursdays on the Plaza, which is free and open to the public,  will take place every second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. The musicians will perform on a stage overlooking the pond in the plaza.

"We are thrilled to offer such an exciting series of events, which we think will be especially helpful to families who are trying to stretch their entertainment budget," Laman Library Executive Director Jeff Baskin said.

On June 10, local musicians Still on the Hill will perform at Laman, followed on July 8 by Shannon Wurst. Those events will lead up to an season finale on August 12 by the locally acclaimed Diamond State Chorus.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs and snacks to the event.
