"Live at Laman," one of our most popular FREE programs, offers an evening of musical entertainment every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. We've hosted some of the best music groups Arkansas has to offer, and our packed houses are proving that "Live at Laman" is the place to be when it comes to quality entertainment for our patrons. Put the third Thursday of the month on your calendar and join us at the library. Whether it's Bach and Beethoven, the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac, or the best original music you've heard in a long time, we've always got surprises in store!

Chris Long has been a prolific and diverse element in the Arkansas music scene for over 2 decades. He is a self taught musician who started playing guitar at age eight. He spent the next several years honing the technical aspects of playing guitar, and being shaped by some of Arkansas's best blues musicians.

Starting in his late teens, Chris fell in love with concept bands. Music that wasn't just played, but performed as both audible and visual art. He enjoyed success in quite a few all original acts of various genres such as punk, goth rock, industrial, and alternative rock, learning different aspects of songwriting and instrumentation along the way.
People's Republic of Casiotones started as one of these concept bands, inspired by the culture that is so vibrant in the festival market. He wanted to bring the unique blues flavor of the Arkansas music scene to this multi-genre festival movement. Compared to previous projects, the experience of a Casiotones show is to be invited in for a more intimate experience with the artists. Casiotones have been well received at Austin Music Week, Riverfest, and the Arkansas Times Musician's Showcase.

The band currently draws from an amazing pool of local talent, all singers and songwriters from their own well established acts in the local scene.  Chris Long from Chris Long Acoustic, Jesse King from The Machete with Love, and Vixxy Chan from Flameing Daeth Fearies, and our most recent addition Andy Furda from Zen Banditos.
The band's sound ranges from southern blues to festival synthpop.
